BMI POWERS MCGRAW-HILL TO THE HEAD OF THE ONLINE LEARNING CLASS

May 12, 2008, Seattle, WA - Building Media Inc. (BMI) teamed with McGraw-Hill Construction to provide the technology behind McGraw-Hill's new Continuing Education Center. The interactive online program helps architects and specifiers more easily earn AIA Continuing Education learning units (LUs).

The online format benefits sponsors and manufacturers by allowing them to track course use and identify market trends; site statistics help sponsors quickly identify those who are interested in specific courses. The Continuing Education Center also provides building product manufacturers with prime opportunities to help educate and influence those design professionals responsible for selecting and specifying their products.

The Center is the first online learning forum to offer American Institute of Architects (AIA) approved learning unit courses in a "mentored learning" format. The unique approach, developed by BMI, seamlessly directs users who answer a test question incorrectly to the appropriate section of the article or course, improving understanding and providing additional coverage of the topic.

All active members of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) must complete 18 learning unit (LU) hours each year. McGraw-Hill's online, interactive learning program helps design professionals more easily earn these AIA Continuing Education LUs by offering courses in a flexible, convenient online environment, well suited to meet the needs of busy professionals. McGraw-Hill is the largest provider of AIA LU credits in the country.

The site uses a number of features designed to improve participation, enhance learning and advance understanding of sponsored content. To date, the Continuing Education Center contains more than 150 courses on topics ranging from Building Envelope Design to Sustainability, along with articles or courses on Interiors, Life Safety and Codes and Products and Materials. Some courses offer multi-media training options, including video presentations produced by BMI.

The online format allows course sponsors to quickly develop and present courses that meet ever-changing market needs. In addition, BMI's site design helps users easily access content organized by sponsor, date, subject and multimedia type. Special features such as Test Tracker and Course Alerts keep subscribers updated on their progress and abreast of new learning opportunities, streamlining the manner in which architects and specifiers fulfill their Continuing Education learning unit requirements.
