BMI HELPS GREEN GO MAINSTREAM WITH GREEN BUILDER COLLEGE™

April 6, 2008, Seattle, WA - As the residential construction industry continues to increase its focus on green building techniques, builders are also seeking ways to differentiate themselves in an increasingly competitive market. Green Builder College™ is the first educational program to offer certification and continuing education to individuals in the homebuilding profession.

Building Media Inc. (BMI) worked with Green Builder® Media, publisher of Green Builder® magazine, to develop the comprehensive online educational program. Curriculum covers energy efficient building practices, indoor air quality, green building materials and other topics. Building professionals who successfully complete the course requirements become Green Builder® Certified.

Ron Jones, founder of Green Builder Media, says there are a number of obvious but compelling reasons builders should become informed on building environmentally-friendly and durable structures.

"Green Builder College™ allows construction professionals to earn certification as a green builder and augments the information provided in existing project certification programs such as LEED," said Jones. "The program is easy to access, and helps homebuilders and their employees learn the science behind high-performance, resource-efficient construction in a convenient online format."

Currently providing Certification courses, Green Builder College™ will also eventually offer an ongoing Continuing Education platform that will allow participants to stay abreast of the ever-changing green building issues.

A number of sponsors support Green Builder College™, including DuPont, iLevel by Weyerhaeuser, Kolbe Windows & Doors, Whirlpool and Nisus Corporation.
