The Hurricane Resistant Construction Network provides builders and designers with comprehensive and current information on hurricane and flood-resistant construction. To promote better building practices in hurricane affected regions, BMI developed and produced educational events, videos, a technical publication and other resources.
Elements of this innovative program include:
- The Hurricane Construction Network, a web-based, online information clearing house and Help Center.
- LaHouse LIVE, which was a day-long sponsored workshop with hands-on demonstrations that showcased hurricane-resistant construction practices. BMI produced numerous videos from this event, which can be found on the Network.
- Hurricane-Resistant Construction Guidebook is a manual of best building practices for hurricane-resistant and energy-efficient building and re-building. This useful tool utilizes clear and colorful graphics, making it "picture-simple" to determine building and energy code-compliance by wind zone, and easy to learn about better building practices by region. The Guidebook can also be found electronically on the Network.
